Blog Post #2 - My Life Story

I was born on July 20, 2006, in Houston, Texas. My parents don't really recall the first words that came out of my mouth :`). I took my first steps around a year old and I began reading/speaking around 3 years old. I went to a catholic Vietnamese school when I was around 4 years old (even though my parents weren't catholic), and I was also enrolled in piano lessons. Unfortunately, I stopped going to Vietnamese school (or what was often referred to as Sunday school) when I was in third-fourth grade. I also stopped playing the piano after first grade. From then, I started Chinese school (Mandarin specifically, even though my father spoke Cantonese). I grew up with a brother (born 03), and a sister (born 09). Since my mother was the youngest in her family, a lot of my cousins on my mom's side were significantly older than me (10+ yrs). In terms of my academics and education, I went to Barrington Place Elementary, then went to Quail Valley Middle School, and now, Dulles High School. For me, puberty started toward the end of 8th grade (voice got deeper >:), went from being 5'4 to 5'9, and experienced a lot of physical and emotional changes). I'm ready to graduate next year, though I'm unsure of where I want to go to college. However, I do wish to major in Computer Science and plan to attend a school in-state (to save money, and to be close to family!). Past that, I haven't really decided on any future or family plans. I guess for me, growing up with a lot of older cousins that have went through lots of breakups and engaging in new relationships, I haven't prioritized finding a partner.  Eventually I do wish to marry a special and unique individual that I feel I could commit the rest of my life to (though that sounds a little scary :`)). I agree with the notion that women have rights over their own body and so, I shouldn't ask or force my life-long partner to have kids. To be honest, I do want kids, and I would probably want at least 2 kids (no lonely children!!). As for the timeline, probably somewhere in my early or mid thirties; not sure on the names though. I want a job that has something to do with Computer Science, whether its data science, software engineering, or something related to AI. Once I'm able to financially sustain myself, I would want to buy a house and move in with my partner (maybe still in Texas, since property is cheaper, or perhaps live in an apartment in the city; either New York, or LA). I would also want to get a dog as I've always wanted one, and I think it would be nice to have my children grow up with a little pet >:). I hope that I will be able to retire early, so that I can pursue my own aspirations (undecided) and spend time with my family (around 40's, preferably).

  1. I can't believe you learned both Chinese and Vietnamese! I also think it's so interesting that you are the middle child, even though I definitely got only child vibes from you. I'm glad we both agree that we don't want any lonely children though :)
